The benefits of singlet oxygen
ZMedicAir has patented a groundbreaking technology that provides a unique non-irradiative metal-based method for producing singlet oxygen-enriched air, in low levels.
Singlet oxygen is a type of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS), typically generated as a byproduct of cellular respiration, and like other oxidants, it can be harmful in high concentrations. However, at low to moderate levels, singlet oxygen acts as a signaling molecule, playing a key role in regulating bodily functions through controlled oxidative stress. Recent studies have highlighted its function in stress-response hormesis, a concept where a substance that is damaging at high doses can have beneficial effects at low doses. This effect arises from the activation of the body’s intrinsic ROS defense mechanisms, which manage oxidative stress, and the enhancement of phase II detoxifying enzymes that protect against broader cellular damage.
At these lower levels, ROS induce stress resistance, resulting in reduced tissue damage, slowed aging processes, and ultimately, extended lifespan. On a cellular level, ROS influence mechanisms that regulate growth, programmed cell death, and other critical signaling pathways. Systemically, ROS contribute to complex physiological functions such as blood pressure regulation, enhanced cognitive function, immune system calibration, and the prevention of degenerative and chronic diseases.
