Singlet oxygen for anemia treatment

Blood is often referred to as “the fluid of life,” and for good reason—it is the primary means of transportation that keeps the body functioning optimally by delivering essential substances to all systems. Among its many critical roles, one of the most important is transporting oxygen to the tissues, a task carried out by red blood cells. When the production of red blood cells is compromised, the consequences can be grave. Anemia is a condition that affects around 25% of the world’s population at some point in their lives. It is especially prevalent among children, who are particularly vulnerable. Despite being a common condition, anemia can have a significant impact on quality of life, leading to issues stemming from low energy, such as fatigue, impaired cognitive function and a weakened immune system. Fortunately, new medical technology now offers a way to help the body restore the red blood cells production process, providing much-needed relief for anemia patients.

ZMedicAir experts discuss anemia and this innovative solution that is transforming the lives of many.

What is anemia and how is it caused?

Anemia is a medical condition in which there is a substantial reduction in the number of red blood cells. As a result, the oxygen supply to the different tissues of the body is damaged. Since oxygen is essential for aerobic cellular respiration, that is almost exclusively responsible for the energy production in the cells, reduce oxygen supply will significantly impair the function of body tissues and systems.

There are several main factors for the different types of anemia:

  • Hereditary factors – several congenital problems may impair the body’s ability of producing red blood cells normally or produce abnormal cells (g. a disease called sickle cell anemia).
  • Infections and diseases – anemia might develop as a result of different medical conditions like chronic inflammations, autoimmune diseases (g. lupus, rheumatoid arthritis…), kidney chronic problems and different types of cancer.
  • Physiological conditions – the production of red blood cells may be damaged by chemotherapy treatments, an exposure to radioactive radiation or severe infections, during pregnancy and in many other conditions.
  • Iron deficiency – one of the most common causes of anemia. It can be treated by taking supplements, but very often it must be controlled regularly.

Anemia symptoms

Anemia symptoms may vary significantly from one case to another and are dependent on case severity. The lower the red blood cells concentration is, the greater the chance for more severe symptoms. In acute cases, anemia might even become life threatening, making finding an effective treatment crucial. These are some of the most common symptoms of anemia:

  • Growth and development issues in children
  • Chronic exhaustion
  • Damaged temperature regulation, mostly tendency of coldness in extremities
  • Dizziness and weakness
  • Pallor
  • Severe headaches
  • Cognitive impairment
  • Heart rate disorders
  • Breathing difficulties

Singlet oxygen for anemia patients

Singlet oxygen is an electronically excited form of molecular oxygen. The singlet oxygen-enriched air produced by the ZMedicAir device induces the body’s natural ability to combat the disease’s inhibition on production of red blood cells, thus alleviating the anemia that person experiences. In some studies, the increase in red blood cells and hemoglobin counts resulted in a significant improvement in patients’ mood and cognitive functions. Also, cancer patients that developed anemia as a result of their chemotherapy treatment, have shown a significant improvement in the condition as a result of using ZmedicAir (for more details, see here).
